You know on those bug-bombs how it says "don't go in there" for 4 hours after you've set one off? They mean it. Last night I set up a couple then counted kid noses and when I was sure they were all in bed I let them off, then came in the bedroom, shut the door and turned on the window fan. I figured the positive pressure would keep the bug fog out. It did, but later I decided I wanted something from the kitchen. Hungry. So I got up and went in there. I'd been there for about 5 minutes when my throat started feeling scratchy and I started caughing. I figured "I've almost got all my loot, just be another minute" and continued to gather food.... Well, it got worse... WAY worse... My nose started to run and my throat to constrict so I fled for the bedroom... By the time I made it in here I was really having trouble breathing, I'm not sure if I would have made it another 30 to 45 seconds out in the bug-fog. My throat had closed so far that I was having serious trouble getting air, and I was beginning to wonder if I was able to dial the phone how I would talk to tell them where i was. Immediately on entering the clear air it started to get better, but I thought if I didn't continue to feel better in about a minute I was calling the ambulance. Well, I'm not typing from the hospital, so I must have felt better and didn't call.
Good thing I had the cell with me, as the nearest land-line phone's in the living-room, and that would have meant getting back in the chair and going back into bug spray to get it.
You might think "being burned alive" would be on the top of the list of "worst ways to die" for me, but then how could I have spent so many years in fire?
So that brings up the cell bill. Way back when (like last spring) I asked if OWCP would pay the cell access. Not the bill, just the access. $45 a month. They said they would.
