So I went over and talked to a realtor friday morning. I'm gettin' tired of throwin' rent down a hole and thinking every time I do something to the house "I'm gonna have to put that back when I move". Turns out I qualify for $225,000 which at 100% financing will set me back $1,400 a month which is a bit hilarious.. There's no friggin' way I'm payin' out that much a month. I've got a list of 17 houses to check outwhich I'll start whittlin' on tomorrow.
Sso Last weelend Nikki flew into Reno where I met her, we spent the night then went lookin' for some friends for Francis. He'd been mopin' and we decided he needed a playmate. Well, we found a couple of rescued weasels at the pound, and he liked them so we brought them home. Here's Francis and his two new friends, Casper (guess which one he is) and Reubin. Casper's apparently about 6 or 7 months old, and Reubin's about 2 and a half.
We went to Petco to check out the babies and there happened to be some rescue ferrets there on "display" from the Biggest Little Ferret Shelter. October (the owner) had a group of 5 fuzzies she was trying to have someone adopt... I was tempted for about 3 secconds, but 5 are WAY too many. We got a big 'ol package of ferret care loot from her tho.. Lots of good stuff. I learned they need LOTS of protien in their food or they'll get sick later in life- Herbie's got the 'low protien diet' sickness and that's why I have to give him his "sauce" every night to keep his blood sugar up. The shelter's got a bunch of poor sick weasels you can sponsor if you'd like. October's doin' a great job, but there's only so much support one person can give and it's not the kid's fault they're sick. Lots of them had negligent owners and had to be taken to the vet when they were surrendered to the shelter... Those bills pile up. So if you have a little extra and want to help out a weasel please do. It's been a week now and Casper's fitting in well.. He's a little terror- Likes to "hide" behind something (usually with his ass hanging out, totally obvious) and "attack" me as I go by. My biggest worry is not seeing the little bastard as I'm being attacked and running him over as he's not too weheelchair aware yet. Reubin has been off the meds for 4 days and is beginning to realize I'm not going to feed him something nasty every time I pick him up so there's no reason to run and hide. He doesn't play as much as Casper (yet) mostly because I think he's still getting used to the place. I'm starting to think he was abused a bit in his last house as he's a bit jumpy at times, but he's getting over it. 'Cource the meds those first few days didn't help. Oh guess what? Travel pay for my trip to Craig last year was finally authorized this month and I got a 900 dollar check. Only took 'em 15 months to get that straightened out. Also looks like 'ol Mike Hooker might finally have decided to keep his word and reimburse me for my cell access. Watch me not hold my breath till I get the check tho. And not hold it again next month when I submit the access charges for this month. It's like blood from a turnip with these folks. School's going to start again here soon... But I haven't any idea when that is. End of August sometime I think..Prolly just about the time I fond a house to buy. Prolly gonna dump alot of my BS rather than move it... Not the stuff I use or is usefull, but the crap I've been dragging around because I thought it might be cool for something someday. That day's prolly not going to come, at least anytime soon with school and (even when I'm not in school) how long it takes to do anything now. I medan it's like my lap (where I've gotta carry anything) has a gravity well in it or something as I'll be dammed if whenever I put something there and try to move it falls off almost immediately. I cuss, pick it up, push once or twice, it falls again... Sigh. So it takes me 3 times as long to get anywhere in the house because I'm always picking up whatever it was I had been carrying. 'Specially exciting with a nice scalding cup of coffee, lemme tellya. While I'm definately not lookin' forward to moving (again) I AM looking forward to living in a house I can call MINE. That way when something's screwey I can *fix* it permanently and not have to think "now how can I make this work till I get the hell outta here?" If the AC sucks I can make it better, and I can put an insert in the fireplace if I want. No askin' permission to make the place better, and I get to keep my improvements (and the house) when I'm done with school. So we'll see what I get. Hopefully there's an acceptable if not really nice place here in town for not too terribly much. Alright, I woke up at midnight last night and haven't slept since so... |
