So I went out lookin' at houses thismornin'... And I've got to admit I'm a little disheartened. I started at the low end of the list... Which started at 180 some thousand... Aaaaaand I looked at some places I wouldn't keep my dog. Some of them I'd be afraid to walk past on the other side of the street with my dog, for fear it might fall down at me. One place in particular looked abandoned, and I'm damn sure the place next-door was. For a hundred and eighty some thousand and some change. SWEET! Bring on the Good Places. Yeah right after I visit Vegas and rip off the Bellagio.< calm down Robyn... > So.... Unless I get a raise in "pay", It's not lookin' like there's any way in hell I'm going to be able to afford a decent house here. But it was only the first day, and I did find one or 2 that would have been alright if they had a garage, or hadn't cut down all the trees, or didn't have 200 steps, or are smaller than the last box my new shoes came in... Always something. I've gotta hope tho that something comes on the market that everyone else looks at and says "What the hell is this?" And I look and go "Oh SWEET! It's got a _______." Whatever the heck that _____ is. We'll see. Here I am right now in a ginormous house paying $1200 a month, which is a little stupid I have to admit, as I have 3 rooms I don't really use at all. However, I have a gigantic garage for all my machines, 3 extra rooms for the ferrets to play (and hide) in, 3 extra rooms in which to store all the crap I *think* I need to keep *just in case* I ever want to use / need any of it... All my neighbors are old or quiet, the yards would count for one big one if you placed them all in one spot... All the doors I usually use (with the exception of the kitchen) are very wide, and my bed fits in the bedroom with lots of room to spare. It was only the first day tho, and I only looked at the "cheap" (ya right) half of the list. I can't expect to find the "perfect" or even semi-passable house on the first day. And I didn't even get to look inside any of them. So we'll see what we can see. I think i'm gonna get out the tape tomorro and measure the parts of the house I DO use so I know what kind of square footage I'm really lookin' for. Then I'll know just how small is "too small". And I'm going to start building my list of "It's gotta have ____s and ______". I already know it's gotta have a fairly decent (1 car +) garage for all my "not in the house but not in the driveway" type tools. The kinds of things that if it was just a "carport" (covered parking spot, if you're not from 'round here) they would have to be chained to something immovable. Oh Hey Guess What? O freakin' W see P has decided to pay the access charges on my cell since last ... November. $370 some dollars or something close to that. So that's kinda cool. I guess I won't be getting any checks from them for a few years tho because that's two in the last 2 weeks for stuff they owe... And as far as I know they're all paid up now.
