I started workin' on the new footplate today. Drew up the design, copied it over to a piece of aluminum I picked up at the local recycler's, and cut it out with my plasma cutter. It was a bit of a project figuring out how to cut that thickness with the cutter as I've never used that machine for aluminum before but after a few cuts I think I've gotten the hang of it. The last footplate I made (the one I wear now) I cut out with the bandsaw at FRC, and it took friggin' bloody A-G-E-S. The plasma? 20 minutes and I was done. Too bad it doesn't wash the dishes too for what I paid for it, but it's pretty damn nice to use none the less. Anyway now I have to cut out a few other pieces, (like that's gonna take a long time or something) change my welder over from steel to aluminium and put the thing together.Who knows how many days that will take tho...

So my garden has finally started producing- But so far all I have is the one cucumber and tomato I put in the salad you see here. I picked up the bowl at the thrift store a few days ago for a buck... Pretty sure it's mahogany, with a nice "To Mary from the Bering Strait Wives written on the bottom... But wait, there's other stuff written.. "monkey pod hardwoods hawaii" so apparently it's made from the wood of the Monkey Pod tree... And strangely enough it looks almost exactly like this basket. Weird huh?

Wish I had my wood lathe down here and the time to play around making some bowls with it... I could easily make some of the bowls on this page. It's not really all that hard, one just needs the right tools. I can imagine a ice bowl made from manzanita... Can't find a picture of the inside of a burl right now, but if you don't know where to find them (i do) they're quite expensive. If only I had the time for the cool projects.. Very annoying that all things take so long now. Also annoying that OWCP says "You cannot have a "helper" 4 hours a week" and when i ask the state (who provides such things to cripples free) they say "You make too much from your disability. You have to pay from your pocket and hire one." So I really hope whoever it is that decides such things agrees with my reading of "Injury Compensation for Federal Employees - CA-810" section 5-4b and 7-1a (don't freak, they take a bit to load even on DSL) sand gives me the compensation upgrade I think I deserve. THEN I will be able to afford my very own cleanin' lady for a couple hours a week, and something along the lines of a real house to buy here in town instead of the $180K rained-uppon 'frigerator box I checked out yesterday.

Don't hate me for wanting a nice house.. One I'm not going to have to worry about burning down when I'm usin' the plasma cutter (requires it's own 20 amp circuit) and the AC comes on. That will pop the main here at this house... Everything shuts down. I can just imagine nukin' the wirin' in an old house and having Something Bad happen, prolly a day before my home-owner's insurance goes into effect. Ya that would suck... Having to pay on a Nuke Zone.

Ok folks, it's late and I'm tired and having double vision at the moment so it's Sleepy-Time.
